“The Battle Belongs to the Lord” — Pastor Dave Zuleger
Sermon Outline
Kernel: This is a passage about the LORD fighting for his people by his strength and their dependence and trust. Amalek represents opposition to God's people throughout the OT (see King Saul episode, see Haman - who comes from that line) and therefore a real-time enemy but also representative.
If we go to Ephesians 6 we see that same pattern. We fight/stand as the people of God against the enemies of God with dependence and trust that is expressed in prayer. Prayer confesses our need and God's power.
