“God is God, and We are Not” — Bruce Power, Elder

Sermon Outline

Kernel: News of God’s mighty acts in Egypt have spread as far as Canaan and Midian. Moses’ father-in-law hears of it and comes to visit Moses and the Israelites. God’s mighty deeds are recounted and God is worshiped. Jethro’s faith is strengthened. Israel has learned that God is their all-sufficient help. But Moses is then taught a lesson by Jethro that human limitations are good and that our dependence on God and others is part of God’s plan. This has application in all our lives, as well as in the concept of plurality of leadership in the local church.
