Kernel: In the 2nd half of Exodus 17 we see clearly God's judgment falling on those who oppose God and his people. In the the first half of chapter 17 we see Moses strike the rock (where God says he will himself be standing) and blessing flow to his people.

This points forward to John 6-7 and Jesus as true bread and true drink where his presence and blessing flows to his people. He is where we find true satisfaction in the midst of so many hard circumstances and brokenness.
