South Cities Kids

1) Kids, why did God give us his word? (to help us know him, listen to him - learn that he saved us and he loves us, and help us trust him).

2) For those of us that trust Jesus died for our sins, why did God give us prayer? (to talk to him)

The Bible and prayer are amazing examples of how much God will be with us, talk to us, help us know him and who he is, help us follow him. God is all-powerful, but he draws near to us. and he wants us to listen!

God spoke to Moses. God let Moses speak with him. He drew near to Moses. He draws near to us.

3) Moses was filled with doubts! He thought people wouldn't listen to him. He thought he wasn't good enough to do the job.

Are you afraid? Do you ever have doubts? Do you ever wonder if people will like you or listen to you if you listen to God? Do you ever wonder if you're smart enough or good enough to make a difference?

What does God want for Moses? For Moses to listen to his promises, trust him, and then go and obey him knowing he will help Moses!

What God want for us? (same thing!)

4) What does this teach us about following God? It's not about our strength, talent, or anything that depends on our power. It's about God's power and help and our trusting all that he says. One of the most important skills you can have in all of life as a Christian is learning to listen and trust God.

5) Moses was supposed to obey God in dedicating his son to the Lord. He didn't do that. What is it called when we don't listen to God?

Disobedience. This made God angry and he was going to punish Moses. But, the wife of Moses saved the day! She dedicated their son to God and it was a sacrifice of blood that made it happen.

What is it called when we haven't listened and then we change our mind and listen? Repentance! What is the payment for disobeying God? It's life. It would have been the life of Moses or his son.

Do you know another Son who gave us his life to pay for sin so that we could draw near to God and be his children? Jesus did that!

6) We see God is faithful to keep his promises. He tells Moses what to do. He reminds him he will help. He sends Aaron to help. The people listen to them and they all worship.

God keeps his promises and God is with us and helps us to do whatever he asks us to do. He never leaves us or forsakes. Our job is to trust him, obey him, and then watch him work!
